Head Director JESÚS CEREZO
Profession: Senior Architect, Façade Engineer

Ph. D in Architecture by Madrid School of Architecture (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid)
Bachelor of Fine Arts in the Faculty of the Interior Design School of Miami
Jesús M. Cerezo started his professional practice in 1988 at Ortiz.León Arquitectos, and from the very beginning he took part in the development of some of the most important buildings constructed in Spain in the early 1990s. During these years, he became a façade specialist and collaborated with several Architectural Offices as façade consultant. After 11 years of professional experience, Jesús M. Cerezo founded the façade engineering ENAR Envolventes Arquitectónicas in 1999 to give support to architects and contractors in the design of non-traditional façades, innovative materials and systems for architectural envelopes. During his professional career, Jesús M. Cerezo has been involved in the development and construction of more than 200 projects in Spain and abroad, including skyscrapers and singular buildings. He has collaborated with some of the most important architects of national and international renown. Jesús M. Cerezo has regularly participated as speaker and in relevant international façade congresses such as GPD (Glass Performance Days). He has taken part in the Scientific Committee of the ICAE (International Congress in Architectural Envelopes. Topic : unitized system in facades
Topic Summary :
The traditional curtain wall as an external enclosure element is now well known for its extensive use in buildings, especially offices.
In recent years, light facade systems have developed greatly reaching levels of performance far superior to the first curtain walls.
The unitized system is the greatest expression of the technology applied to the light facade. This system is not only limited to the most common systems of extruded aluminum profiles, but also covers all types of industrialized elements including panels and frames of different materials (steel, glass, stone, textiles and elastomers)
The correct use of unitized systems in the façade requires a deep knowledge of the system in terms of its thermal performance, watertightness, industrialization processes and installation on site, knowledge of materials and their compatibility ...
In the conference, we will develope the basic principles of the unitized system and the great advantages of its use in high-rise buildings.

The architectural design and the forms used in the envelopes of the new buildings are changing rapidly in recent years. In our cities, there are more and more buildings with a totally innovative and expressive design.
In addition to this, the technical requirements regarding energy efficiency, fire safety or structural stability, quality and timing of construction are becoming more demanding, especially in high-rise buildings.
Construction technology has been developed by collecting the knowledge acquired in disciplines such as aeronautical or wind engineering.
Composite materials, thanks to its lightness, formal freedom and the possibility of developing large format elements, is one of the materials that technology has put at our disposal to address the new challenges that architects and society demand.
